How do I install the demo or full versions of
your software.?
The zip file that you download should first be unzipped
(uncompressed )on your desktop PC by using an unzipping program such
as Winzip.
If you do not have winzip it can be downloaded from here:- http://www.winzip.com
Unzipping the file will give you the automated installation file(s),
just follow the instructions in the readme.txt file which will also
be extracted from the zip file.

How do I uninstall Pocket PC software ?
Just place your PPC in its cradle and use MS Activesync.
Click - Tools - Add/Remove programs. Highlight (blue) the software
you wish to remove and click the remove button. This will remove the
application from your PPC
-
I seem to have 2 start icons on my PPC to your
application how can remove one.
When installing the new programs over the old it is possible to get
2 shortcuts to the application installed. This is easily verified by
going into Settings - Menus and scrolling down you will see two
identical program icons instead of one.
To erase one of the shortcuts place your PPC in its cradle and use
active sync - Explore \ My Pocket PC \ Windows \ Start menu -and
delete the required shortcut . This should leave you with one
shortcut in the programs menu and cure your problem.

Does your software work on the HP720 ?
Currently our software does not support the HP720 CE3.0 for
handhelds, if we get enough demand for our applications for this
platform we will consider porting them over at a later date.
-
When I tried to install the software I got the
error message Win CE services not installed.
The error message Win CE services not installed on your machine
points to a problem with the install not finding one of ActiveSync
entry's in the registry.
When you double click the .exe file to install one of our
applications onto your pocket pc, the program first looks in the
registry on your pc to locate where the ActiveSync applications
manager is.
This is the key it looks for in the registry:-
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\CEAPPMGR.EXE"
The value of this key is the path to the applications manager e.g.
Win98 system is normally
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\CEAPPMGR.EXE
The applications manager is the Add/Remove programs window that you
see popup when installing / removing apps from your PPC.
Reinstalling Activesync on your pc normally cures this problem.
-
I cannot find any help for the applications on
my Pocket PC.
All our applications install a full user help guide on your Pocket
PC. To access, when using the application, tap the Start icon and
choose Help from the Start menu. This is standard /approved
Microsoft way of displaying help for CE/pocket PC applications.
Hope that helps ;-)

What com port do I select for IR in the
options screen of one of your applications.
There are some naming problems in the registry with the Pocket PC /
PPC2002 regarding IR com ports. The naming of these ports vary
depending on your hardware and OS but normally the com port you
should select for IR is com:3, this may be an unnamed port in
PPC2002.

I am having problems connecting my Ipaq with
built in Bluetooth to my Ericsson phone.
Firstly in our application under Options - Port select "COM8:
Bluetooth Serial port COM8:"
Then to use an Ericsson BT phone on an Ipaq with built in Bluetooth
you need to do the following :-
Discover the device by setting the device/phone to discoverable
(Extras - Bluetooth - Discoverable on a Ericsson T39/T68) and then
running a "Search" routine on the Ipaq (Bluetooth Manager - Search).
Once you have "Discovered" the device you can bond with it by
selecting the device in the Bluetooth manager and then selecting
Actions-Bond with this device and also on the phone (Ericsson)
selecting Extras - Bluetooth - Paired Devices - Add Device. You will
then be prompted to enter a pass key on the phone and the Ipaq.
Once bonded you can check and set the services in the Actions menu
you need to check/set 'Connect to serial port'.
If you still have a problem you may need to go into Bluetooth
Manager - Tools - Settings for All Devices - Serial Port and tick
the "Passkey is required" check box and the "Let other devices use
this service" check box.
Further information can be found the book that comes with the Ipaq
titled "Special Features" "Compaq Ipaq Pocket PC with Bluetooth"

doubt about your phones compatibility try the demo version first.

When writing to the SIM
card memory on my Nokia 82xx my contact name is truncated to 8
characters.
The problem you are reporting is a known bug on some
of Nokia's 8xxx phone models. When writing to the SIM card
memory this Nokia phone limits the name field to 8 characters, this
is when using AT commands through the IRcomm service to connect to
the phone. As you know the contact name can be much larger if you
enter the contact manually using the phone keypad, we have tried to
bypass this restriction but the phone just rejects the string. Many
Simple Phone Book users who have these Nokia Phones are happy to use
the Phone memory rather than the SIM to store their contacts and
this allows them to use 12 - 16 characters, so you may want to
consider this as a work around.
The problem has been reported to Nokia.
-
Why is the Nokia 6150 not
supported with Simple Phone Book ?
The Nokia 6150 is one of the few Nokia phones that will not work
with our applications, Nokia used a proprietary protocol for the IR
port on the 61xx series.

What phones are supported with Simple
Call ?
Simple Call Compatibility List:
Note: Transfer of the call to Bluetooth Headsets is currently only
supported with Ericsson Phones.
Nokia (any of the phones from this
range should work)
8210, 8310, 8290, 8850, 8890, 8910 7110, 7190, 6210, 6310, 6360,
6250, 8250,
Ericsson R320, R520m, T39*, T68* ( *
tested with BT headsets )
Motorola L7089, P7389, 250
Siemens S25, S35, SL45, S45
Samsung A-100
PHONES WE KNOW THAT DO NOT WORK:-
Ericsson T610 family
Nokia 6100 family ie 6130, 6150 etc, 7160, 9110 / 9210, 3360
Motorola V60, V70, T270, T280.

I cannot get the call to hand off to my Bluetooth headset.
Firstly
this feature is only supported for Ericsson phones. Nokia phones do
not support the AT commands required to achieve this. If you have an
Ericsson phone please ensure you have selected 'Bluetooth headset'
the options of Simple Call and the headset delay is set to at least
30. We have found that some models of PPC require the headset delay
set higher (50?) to allow more time for the Bluetooth link to drop
and the headset to pick it up.
-
Using a Bluetooth connection I cannot hang up the call.
If you are
not using the application with an Ericsson Bluetooth headset please
ensure that 'Bluetooth headset' is not selected in the options
window, you should then be able to disconnect the call using the
hang up button in Simple Call.
If you are using a Bluetooth headset the call must be ended with the
button on your headset. The Pocket PC cannot communicate with the
phone to end the call due to the fact that your phone only supports
one active Bluetooth link at any time and you are using that link
between the headset & phone. This is a limitation with current
Bluetooth technology.

Ipaq 5450 problems.
The
new Bluetooth manager software on the Ipaq 5450 can give you a few
problems. We have found that it is best to use the Dial up network
connection port to access the phone instead of the Bluetooth serial
port, this then does not pop the annoying extra Bluetooth manager
connection dialog boxes.
To do this first ensure you have gone through the Dial up networking
wizard for your phone in Bluetooth manager, then in our application
select BTC1:Bluetooth Port 1: as the com port in Options.
